Kia ora tātou

It is with the greatest pleasure that I introduce myself as the principal of Tawhero School, a unique and wonderful place that I love and have strong interest and investment in.

Tawhero School is a very loving and caring school that is moving towards learning in a future-focused innovative way. The school is currently undergoing extensive renovation where collaborative and modern spaces will provide enriching, engaging and empowering learning environments for our tamariki and their teachers. We are a well resourced school with highly effective and dedicated teachers, specialist teachers, the lastest in technology, good cultural and sporting facilities and opportunities.

We celebrate culture, physical activity, the arts and academic achievement in everything we do. At our school your child will be nurtured in a fun-loving environment where the well-being of your child will be at the forefront of everything we do.

We want to prepare our tamariki for their futures. Whatever that brings, we know we need to be highly skilled. In order to achieve this, we believe our core values of aroha (love, respect and care) whakapono (truth, belief and honesty) and tumanako (dreams, hope) will enable learners to not only be more successful in their schooling and career, but more importantly life ready and contribute to our forever changing society.

I am an experienced principal who is passionate about education and I began my journey at Tawhero School in April of 2019. Before that I have was principal at Te Kura o Te Wainui-ā-rua for seven years. I have been teaching for more than 20+ years and I am excited to extend my learning in a school that values and celebrates diversity, uniqueness and strives to engage, empower and enrich the lives of our learners.

I would be happy to meet with you, show you around and have the opportunity to share more about the school and answer any questions you may have.
